At LILLY PILLY, we choose fabrics and materials that are as kind to the planet as they are beautiful to wear. Reflecting our principles of sustainability, resource efficiency, environmental responsibility and consumer safety.

We produce our own linen fabric using EUROPEAN FLAX™ certified linen flax, known for its timeless aesthetic and minimal environmental footprint. Linen requires significantly less water and pesticides than cotton or polyester, and is fully biodegradable and compostable. Every thread is sustainable, traceable, and crafted to last.

Beyond linen, we also love working with other natural fibres including bluesign® certified silk, lightweight cotton, extra-fine merino wool, and luxurious cashmere.

We are proud to partner with a like-minded manufacturer, located in Jiaxing, China, who shares our commitment to caring for people and the planet. They focus on fair wages, safe and inclusive workplaces, skill development and continuous innovation in sustainable production.

Our manufacturing partner is fully certified to the highest global sustainability standards.

OUR FABRICS & MATERIALS

Our core fabric is EUROPEAN FLAX™ certified linen, known for its timeless aesthetic & minimal environmental footprint.

We produce our own linen fabric. The unparalleled quality of our linen can be attributed to our exclusive loom technology as well as the high quality EUROPEAN FLAX™. Flax plants grown in the region are known for producing extra-long fibres, thanks to the unique climate conditions in the European continent, the mineral-rich silty soil and generations of farming expertise.

As a result, our linen is remarkably strong yet notably soft and breathable. Every thread is sustainable, traceable, and crafted to last.

bluesign® CERTIFIED SILK

We use 20MM premium silk, luxuriously soft with an incredible texture and hand feel. Our silk is bluesign® certified, one of the highest sustainability standards, meaning it’s dyed with safe chemicals, using less water and less energy.

OUR STORY

In 2020, my husband and I left Sydney for Byron Bay, seeking a life closer to nature and away from the pace of city living. After years of working with some of Australia’s most iconic fashion brands, I felt a deep desire to create something that truly inspires me.

In September 2021, in the midst of COVID lockdowns, LILLY PILLY was born. With the support of a small circle of incredibly talented and supportive friends, we began the journey of building a brand that is close to our hearts.

It wasn’t always easy. Through countless trials and errors, long nights, tears and sweat, we have grown into a confident brand that delivers gorgeous collections to our customers and community season after season, making a positive impact to our people and planet.

I am endlessly proud of our team - a group of passionate, strong and talented individuals. Together, we have become a family, forever learning, inspiring and lifting each other up.
